Grapes of Wrap Scarf

Grapes of Wrap Scarf

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Lovely Foliage yarn became this lovely ruffles & ridges magic pattern scarf. The colors remind me of a vineyard with the grapes, foliage on the vines & the beautiful earthiness of a vineyard. This yarn is variagated and knits into these gorgeous colors. It is soft and luxurious to wear wrapped around one's neck with the lovely ruffles & ridges adding to its beauty. Enjoy my magic scarf pattern with its ruffles & ridges in Grapes of Wrap. Thanks for stopping by.
The Great Gatsby (felted bag)

The Great Gatsby (felted bag)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Gorgeous fuschia wool held together with a teal novelty yarn knitted & fulled (felted) into this fabulous era of flappers & the Charleston (1920's) calling it' The Great Gatsby' (bag). Two gorgeous ruffles, a felted teal flower embellished with feathery yarn & a ribbon trim in silver with blues & pinks throughout the ribbon is crocheted under the ruffles to give the top a very ruffled & adorned edge & is reminiscent of the headbands worn by flappers in the 1920's era. Two plastic silver handles add to the theme of the era of 'The Great Gatsby'! Enjoy!
Sunflowers Tote (Van Gogh still life)

Sunflowers Tote (Van Gogh still life)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Van Gogh's Sunflower paintings (1888) have become nearly synonymous with his name & techniques. Colors in the many Sunflower paintings are vibrant & express emotions associated with the life of sunflowers. Bright yellows, oranges & browns typify the life and the wilting of sunflowers-all stages woven through these polar opposites are presented & I attempted to recreate these emotions in this bag with its vibrant colors to its browns & wilting dichotomy. I designed the beaded, dichronic glass button exploring the interplay of color to attempt to match the Sunflower's life. Two handles add to the theme with beaded handles and an over the shoulder ICORD handle. I attempted to reach a deeper understanding of how all living things are tied together. Enjoy 'Sunflowers'!
Covent Garden (felted bag)

Covent Garden (felted bag)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Rich wool yarns in shades of deep greens & several novelty yarns used in creating this showstopper bag/tote. Covent Garden is one of my favorite places in London because of its street performers, theatres & the Royal Opera House. In the heart of London's West End, the area is recognized as a premier entertainment destination where jugglers, mime artists & variety acts entertain in the piazza. 'Covent Garden' felted bag has two ICORD handles, 2 interior pockets, interior fabric covered reinforced base & gorgeous 'roving' seed beaded/needlefelted flowers embellish the front of the bag reminiscent of a flower garden. Lighter green ICORD ties at either side embellished with tiny seed beads. Gorgeous green/gold interior top edge trim. Lovely & roomy. Enjoy 'Covent Garden'! Thanks for stopping by.
Chantilly Lace Fingerless Mitts

Chantilly Lace Fingerless Mitts

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
I knitted these lovely lace patterned fingerless mitts when I was attempting to design fingerless mitts for bridesmaids for a wedding in October. The bride will be wearing white fingerless mitts but these are only for my use. The bridesmaids will be wearing black & white. I also knitted a white lace garter for the bride. These fingerless mitts are knitted in all cotton variegated yarn. I hand stitched lovely green seed beads around the top edge and around the thumb gusset. I embroidered French knots around the lower top edge to highlight the seed beads. I also knitted ICORDS 8-10 inches long & placed seed beads at each end for embellishment. The ICORD pulls through to tighten the mitt on the wrist area.
Harmony (impressionist shawl)

Harmony (impressionist shawl)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
This lovely shawl is knitted in a palette of impressionist colors on two needles knitting back and forth without turning my work. Two yarns were used and one was carried up the edge and caught with the next set of stitches back and forth creating a lovely impressionist palette with novelty yarns swirling out at strategic areas giving this shawl an airy, whimsical & romantic look. I added fringe to each end and each side is hand knit ruffles giving this a lovely look for any time of the day or evening. My attempt at impressionism with yarns & impressionism's 'en plein air' attempts to emphasize vivid overall effects to achieve an intense color vibration expressing a bright & varied use of color. This wearable attempt at impressionism expresses a bright & varied use of this color palette. Thanks for stopping by.

Days of Wine and Roses

Days of Wine and Roses

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES captures the essence of a romantic picnic or a couple in love seeking those carefree, intimate moments together of the DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES (and YOU). Lest one forget that the DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES never need to end and this tote was designed and created with that in mind. The tiny and beautiful purple silk roses which delicately surround the top edge of this piece continue to remind a special someone that there were those magic moments and that the flowers may fade and die but that magical time of being in love will be remembered. The purples, pinks and fabulous contrasting colors only compliment the total essence of this piece. Knittted and felted with many gorgeous wool and novelty yarns and the interior is a lovely as the exterior and the theme continues in the interior pockets and the reinforced bottom with its lovely fabric covered needlepoint foamcore. Love is in the air with DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES. The phrase "days of wine and roses" is originally from
'Out Of Africa'

'Out Of Africa'

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
A lovely knitted/felted medium size roomy bag depicts various animals/landscapes out of Africa with several novelty yarns knitted together with the lovely brown wool. A love of Africa inspired this bag. Memories of Africa ; its beautiful animals & landscapes are knitted/felted into this bag. Top interior edge embellished with animal print grosgrain ribbon & two interior pockets continue the theme. The interior base is beautiful animal print fabric covered foamcore for durability & strength. Orange print wooden beads (felted in) surround the lower part of the top edge & one wooden African pendant embellishes the mid front. An I Cord handle pulls through for one long handle or two shorter ones (over the shoulder). Thanks for joining my safari. (no animals were injured/maimed in designing/creating this bag-all fur like novelty yarns)
The Rose

The Rose

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
"The Rose' felted art is inspired by the song and the 1979 movie;"The Rose". In this piece there is a river & in the song-"some say love it is a river" & the lyrics also say "love is a hunger" but also like the song lyrics say: " I say love it is a flower and you its only seed...& the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live...then just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snows, lies the seed that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes "The Rose". This piece attempts to prepare the viewer for 'joie de vivre' or the literal French translation: joy of living'. For, in life, we live, we laugh & we love & when there is a winter in our lives it will pass and the light will shine and bring us: "The Rose
Ju-Xian

Ju-Xian

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Ju-Xian, is an ancient Chinese city whose name means "chrysanthemum city". This flower was introduced to Japan around the 8th century A.D. & the Emperor adopted the chrysanthemum as his official seal. There is a 'Festival of Happiness" in Japan which celebrates this lovely flower. It was brought to Europe in the 17th century. Linnaeus (botanist), named it for the Greek prefix 'Chrys' which means 'golden' (the color of the original flower) & 'anthemon' meaning 'flower'. The flower is called Oogiku in Japanese meaning big Chrysanthemum. This is a lovely, large bag with a gorgeous interior fabric base continuing the Chrysanthemum theme. Enjoy!

"A River Runs Through It"

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
A cathartic work, this piece represents my younger years in Montana watching my older brother fly fishing in the gorgeous Gallatin River. The river, ripples,& bedrock are all represented in this piece & I can see my brother's fly fishing rod & the line rhythmically dancing & the heat mirages on the river dancing with and through each other. I feel patterns of my own life joining with them. The stories of life are like this river & I touch the water & the ripples grown larger & drift silently away from my fingertips & I know that eventually all things merge into one as Big Sky Montana, Ponderosa Pines, the bedrock (flap) & the river encircle me & eventually all merge as A River Runs Through It. Visiting China & Hong Kong I purchased batik cloth & the blues in the fabric line the interior base carrying on the river theme. Two silver Hushco buttons adorn the front flap. This gorgeous yarn stripes with shades of blue representing the river & the strap & flap edges ripple like the river & therefore, in this work..".A River Runs Through It "( a book by Norman Maclean)
Strawberry Shortcake Scarf

Strawberry Shortcake Scarf

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Another fun Ruffles & Ridges Scarf knitted with gorgeous Tosca variagated (self-striping) yarn. This pattern is so variable adding ruffles or adding garter stitch around the edges. One can cast on any even number of stitches and create a variety of looks but I like the crocheted ruffled edge to this pattern and it is a fun pattern. You can make this scarf as long as you like & knitting it in a heavier weight yarn is really fun. Your needle size can be varied-just have fun with it! Enjoy!
Bead Me Up (fashion bag)

Bead Me Up (fashion bag)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Roomy enough for daytime & stylish enough for evening I crocheted this black bag & then beaded a lovely applique with seed beads & bugle beads to embellish the front of this bag. The handles are plastic tubing with black crochet around them. The interior is lined in black fabric with a small pocket. A key chain hooks around one of the handles and is embellished with a black, crocheted flower attached. You can attach charms to this key chain also for further embellishment. Enjoy my Bead Me Up black fashion bag. Thanks for stopping by.
Cleopatra

Cleopatra

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Designed, knitted and felted with regal, royal purple wools combined with rich purple novelty yarns held throughout the body of the bag. Rich turquoise and purple novelty yarn adds contrast and compliments the top edge and handles. A rich purple fabric covers the needlepoint foam core interior base. The lovely turquoise and purple handle runs through the top edge and the handle can be worn doubled or pulled through for an over the shoulder look. These photos were taken before I added the gorgeous interior fabric to the foamcore bottom of this lovely, regal bag.
Pink Peony Scarf

Pink Peony Scarf

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Gorgeous yarn in a blend of many colorful pinks, browns, corals & rust hues knitted into this lovely scarf which I knitted in a basketweave pattern & voila- a magic scarf ( with ruffles & ridges) The crocheted ruffle is added after the knitting process and this scarf is stunning to throw around ones neck-very soft & a fun pattern that does knit up like magic. These gorgeous colors are truly like a pink peony. Enjoy the magic of this lovely ruffles & ridges pattern.
