Fringe Benefits Chic Shawl

Fringe Benefits Chic Shawl

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Lovely deep purples,turquoise... and gorgeous copper yarns combined in a knitted rectangle with eight inch drops at one side creating the 'fringe benefits'. Closing the rectangle at one side provides for a shawl that does not slip off when worn and leaves the arms and hands free. The knitting is open and loose so this shawl/sharf/poncho drapes when worn on or off the shoulder. Gorgeous with black for a very dramatic, dressy look. A SHARF is a knitting term describing a wearable piece which combines a shawl/scarf look.
Organic Pottery (three nested sets with trivets)

Organic Pottery (three nested sets with trivets)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Utilizing natural resources (wool & soy) makes knitting/felting these three organic sets of bowls with trivets & coasters especially gratifying and offers an appreciation for Nature and different cultures and traditions. The natural fibers create sensational and bold color combinations and it is exciting to explore different designs/shapes. It is like kneading dough and as I work with the felted pieces in my hands; I see the wool changing. The possibilities in form and color are endless. These are called: Mardi Gras (pinks/magentas); Saharan Sand (blends of natural tones) and Big Sky Montana in its radiant hues of blues. Each set has two bowls (medium & large) with a trivet and a set of four coasters tied with wool/soy yarn. As an artist it is exciting to explore different shapes, designs & fibers. Functional with endless, creative possiblities make these pieces unique. (trivets & coasters sprayed with non-skid adhesive on back side for safety)

Crocheted from sturdy rug yarn in a gorgeous blue with lovely cotton fabric lining. Wooden beads & a beaded, decorative closure embellish the flap. Rug yarn makes a sturdy bag and lining helps to strengthen & beautify the interior which has one large pocket sewn from the same interior fabric. Novelty ribbon in blues is crocheted around the shoulder strap , flap & interior top edges.
The Grand Canyon (organic pottery set)

The Grand Canyon (organic pottery set)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Wool/soy yarn in these gorgeous hues blended into the Grand Canyon once it was felted creating these beautiful pieces: two bowls, trivet & coasters. The colors are amazingly beautiful. The Grand Canyon organic pottery is deep, multilayered & interwoven into something so breathtakingly beautiful & reminds me of our Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is untarnished wilderness encompassing beauty, antiquity, solitude, inspiration & revitalization of the human spirit. It is a living, infinite fractal of profound depth & I discovered it in this felted organic pottery. Take a hiking trail with me & enjoy The Grand Canyon & I guarantee you will leave with memories for a lifetime. Thanks for stopping by to view my Grand Canyon organic pottery.

Botticelli's Venus Scarf (Dusty Rose)

Botticelli's Venus Scarf (Dusty Rose)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
This scarf pattern is so versatile & the lovely blossom (flower) I knit after grafting the two scarf pieces at the center adds to the Botticelli Venus look because in his painting he has her hair wrapping around her neck and body. This is a lovely dusty rose yarn held with a ribbon yarn for added color. The seashell motif is fun to knit & the shells can be made any size. A lightweight, fun, anytime scarf. Enjoy!
Botticelli's Venus Scarf (Denim Daze)

Botticelli's Venus Scarf (Denim Daze)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
This art scarf again represents Botticelli's painting of Venus rising. Knitted in two sections & then grafted togther with the kitchner stitch at the center & a lovely ruffled flower knitted with soft denim yarn & the blue ribbon novelty yarn. A fun scarf for anytime. The flower may be worn in the front or to the side. The seashells can be knitted to any size. Enjoy this fun scarf with so many wearable possibilities.
Autumn Daze

Autumn Daze

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
AUTUMN DAZE brings to mind the cooler nights and warmer days in an autumnal season. The fabulous wools and novelty yarns add warmth to this bag and bring to mind the beauty of an Indian Summer. Designed, knitted, felted with a reminder of summer days gone and autumn days one by one reaching out to take us to a new place on the color palette of artistic endeavor. Lovely fashion buttons add to the autumnal beauty. This bag is featured at MINNESOTA ARTISTS TEXTILES ON THE TOWN (MIXED MEDIA).
Monet's Garden

Monet's Garden

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
I studied ART HISTORY at the University of Minnesota and Claude Monet has always been one of my favorite IMPRESSIONIST masters. Knitting this tote; I attempted to capture the splendor of MONET'S beautiful gardens and it is reminiscent of many of his paintings of flowering gardens, parks and groves. Lovely wool yarns combine with novelty yarns knitted/felted create this impressionistic landscape tote.
Cha Cha Cha

Cha Cha Cha

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Such a fun & flirty bag knitted in the most gorgeous handspun/kettledyed wools. Felting these gorgeous wools creates the beautiful blend of colors throughout this bag. Three large ruffles compliment the colors of the wool and are knitted and felted along with the bag and two lovely wool shoulder straps add to the fun. One interior pocket continues with the kettledyed wool and the base is reinforced and a lovely fabric covers the needlepoint foamcore base for added strength, durability and beauty. A Showstopper!
Piet Mondrian Felted Bag

Piet Mondrian Felted Bag

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
This knitted & felted bag is representative of the artist, Piet Mondrian's technique of using primary colors in abstract design. Piet Mondrian (1872-1912), Dutch artist and important contributor to the De Stijl art movement is famous in part for his use of primary colors and abstract design much like the artist, Kandinsky. This bag has a lovely ruffled top edge and the gorgeous wool yarn is kettledyed and felted beautifully. An ICORD felted loop reaches over the top edge to catch a gorgeous fashion shell button in shades of blue. The lovely interior has a large pocket and the base is twice reinforced and covered with a fashion fabric which is primary colors in an abstract design. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy!
Age of Aquarius Tote

Age of Aquarius Tote

(KnottyladyDesigns...)

Once in a Blue Moon one designs a work of art that defines one's passion in and for life. Knitted & felted with gorgeous colors emulating water, earth & sky coming together & existing harmoniously as the astrological belief that the world is in the Age of Aquarius-an age of love, light & humanity. This work is filled with symbolism with the bobbles around the bottom edge symbolizing the planets; up into the turquoise with the silver beads as stars in the sky & still upward to the rows with fashion buttons and a large pendant which emulates earth & then back into the bobble like planets around the top edge. The top edge is beautifully felted with two ICORD loops on each side of this piece and they hold two ICORD handle twists. The interior carries on the theme of Aquarius with two lovely pockets and a fashion fabric in purples covering a twice reinforced base for beauty, strength & durability. The entire work is surrounded with the beads, bobbles , buttons & pendants on the front & back. Everything becomes unified. All of our differences, all of our dualities mix together like the fragrances of a flower garden, with all the varieties of flowers adding their bouquet to the overall mix until they are inseparable . Each individual flower remains distinct & individual, each one's fragrance is unique & discernible yet joined together in unity with the others in a wonderful mixture that is the fragrance of life's garden with water as life's source. This work was commissioned & the colors specifically chosen but giving me creative carte blanche. Thanks for stopping by.

Jute Twine Shoulder Bag

Jute Twine Shoulder Bag

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Crocheted from jute twine and lined with a fun, colorful cotton fabric; this bag/purse is very durable and fun. I will try any fiber to experiment and see what happens with the fibers. I also placed wooden beads in several strategic places to embellish the flap and also strands of beads add an additional fun touch to the flap closure. (The shoulder strap is also lined to help curb undo stress/stretch on the jute.) It is fun to work with natural fibers creating something useful and fun. It amazes me to find materials around my home for creative endeavors.
Santa Fe Sunset

Santa Fe Sunset

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
This dramatic tote was knitted/felted with gorgeous wools together with ribbon novelty yarn. In my mind I can see the mountain sunsets of New Mexico reflected in this felted tote. The interior continues the theme with two lovely knitted/felted pockets and a twice reinforced sunset fabric covered foamcore/web base for added strength, durability and beauty. Knitted I CORD handles continue the beauty of a SANTA FE SUNSET and shell fashion buttons in copper give this bag a sunset glow.
