(J.v)
Woven pieces from ten paintings in a series which expresses how contradictions and opposites can co-exist harmoniously. This idea is captured through the use of various geometric forms (e.g. straight vs. curved lines and squares vs. circles), colors (e.g. red vs. green), tonality (e.g. dark vs. light), and symbolic elements (e.g. primitive and ancient motives vs. modern technology). This philosophy is reflected in everyday life, nature, the human spirit, and the universe.

Process of designing and weaving: Design center - Valdrin ltd. Kukes, Albania.

Banner Mountain Textiles

Banner Mountain Textiles

(BerylMoody)
My weaving business consists primarily of "one of a kind" scarves and shawls and also I have started to design and weave cloth for wearable artists. I'm a handspinner, so many of my handwovens incorporate handspun yarns of silk, wool, mohair and alpaca. Much of what I weave, I also dye; sometimes with natural dyes and sometimes with synthetic dye.

Complexity in design is my hallmark. Most of my woven items are from weaving drafts that I have designed, although I do use traditional and historical drafts as well.

A Mother's Heart (hand quilted)

A Mother's Heart (hand quilted)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Each heart on my hand quilted wall hanging represents one of my children, grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Each heart is lovingly handstitched and lightly filled with soft batting to give it a three dimentional look and the fullness is the love I feel in my heart for each person represented in this handmade quilt/wall hanging. It is indeed a 'work of heart'. The fabrics are those I have saved through the years and some were pieces I cut from a few of my grandmother's aprons. My grandmother wore a clean, lovely apron each day . I remember my grandmother with so much love and she is represented in each heart. Handquilted with love. (36" X 40") A great grandson on the way so another heart will have a name in April 2007!New great grandson, Elliot Gordon has a place on Grandma's quilt. Two more great grandbabies are due in the fall. Two more hearts will have new names. Thanks for stopping by!
