'Starry Night Tote'

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Knitted, felted & needlefelted this medium tote replicates Van Gogh's famous painting 'Starry Night' (1889). A night sky filled with swirling clouds, stars ablaze in their own luminescence & a bright crescent moon each are exaggerated features in a scene we all can relate to as the sky keeps the viewer's eye moving about & following the stars. A small town lies below the rolling hills with a peaceful essence with a tall church steeple center point. A unique dichronic glass button coordinates for the top edge closure. Reflected in the eleven stars is Van Gogh's religious endeavor from Genesis 37:9..'behold, the sun, moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me...' I stood near this painting twice in my life & it touches me deeply. This was a pleasure to attempt to recreate in yarn. Enjoy!

Small Works

(CindyRinAL)
Transforming fabric and fiber into complex objects fascinates me. I enjoy using colors, textures, and patterns to translate ideas into tangible forms. The multiple layers and dimensionality of quilted objects provide additional avenues enhance my ideas.

My life-long love of the outdoors and scientific training color my ideas and designs. Just as a scientist uses a multiple facts to create a new theory, and a computer programmer strings commands together to create a new program, I transform a variety of materials into complex new object.

This Gallery highligts some of the small works I have made. None are larger than 24" in either direction.

Coloured Trash

Everyday we are bombarded with those awful white bags, not just at the grocery store but everywhere you go!
I challenged myself to use some of them in my art.
I LOVE colour and decided to add colour to those awful bags, which I melted together.
Cotton fabrics, threads, batting and plastic grocery bags

Knitted Necklaces/Chokers... (vintage buttons)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
Statement
Fun,li... & versatile knitted necklaces dress up any outfit for any occasion. The vintage fashion button is worn in the front and a fiber closure easily buttons and unbuttons these fun fiber jewelry pieces. The longer ones can be twice wrapped for a choker look with the fashion button in the front or they can be used as belts, bracelets and ankle bracelets. It is interesting using various yarns to create these fun, versatile pieces. These are pretty & fun to wear. Thank you for stopping by.

Textile Art, Drawings, Painting, and Handmade Glass are some of the elements that make up my allysewn designs. I never make two peices the same so every customer can wear and original art peice. It is my goal to emcompass my range of artistic abilities in every peice without overdoing. Beading and glass blowing has been inspiring and an exceptional embellishment. Please enjoy!!!
ETUIS (French) (needlecases)

ETUIS (French) (needlecases)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
I designed a pattern for these ETUIS (French) (needlecases) which is much larger than the sailors in the 1800's used to carry their items for mending the ship's sails. The lids come off and the gorgeous interiors present themselves with places for office supplies, toiletries, baby's room items etc. Let your imagination go and flow with the fabric and interior design. I placed beads, pin cushions and charms into the lid interiors. The black stretch cord on each interior side is used to hold supplies. I created one for an office and it contained pens, pencils, stapler etc. The small box in the very center can be turned over and a small vignette can be made from the many minature scrapbooking pieces on the market. I created one with a minature desk, computer, chair & with added office items in minature. These make wonderful gifts. The two are not for sale but I am designing more of these lovely, practical ETUIS which are indeed conversation pieces.
CHRISTMAS CRECHE TEXTILE SCULPTURE

CHRISTMAS CRECHE TEXTILE SCULPTURE

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
These seasonal pieces are molded & crafted from muslin, wire shapes and a special paste and then allowed to dry. Please take note of how carefully the muslin fabric must be handled to create the look of folded fabric and the way in which the robes look as though they have drape to them. After the drying process they are very firm and can be spray painted or handpainted with gold or silver. Cording is used for hair on the angels and also for ties on the shepherds' robes and Joseph's robe and the head pieces. The tallest angel is 18 inches high ;small angels 8 inches high, Mary(holding baby Jesus)/Joseph & shepherds 12 inches high; wisemen 15 inches high (each). Sturdy and gorgeous seasonal pieces. I have made them each five feet high using wire plant holders (firm wire tomato stands) for an altar display. These are beautiful year after year. (One can finish these with jewels for the wisemen and Joseph and the shepherds have wooden staffs that fit into each of their hands.
ETUI (French) (Needlecase)

ETUI (French) (Needlecase)

(KnottyladyDesigns...)
An etui was a small needlecase used by the sailors in the 1800's to mend the ship's sails. These etuis were small & fit into the sailor's pocket. I designed a large pattern and crafted this ETUI for an office setting with many places to put things. The theme of this is astrological and each side holds an office supply and the center box holds pens/pencils/magn... glass etc. The inside of the lid is decorated with astrological minature pieces such as stars and moons to compliment the exterior fabric and to show off the beautiful blue fabric lining. These are one of a kind and definitely a conversation piece. A true Showstopper.
