"September Song" is a carpet bag knitted, felted & needle felted to remind us that September brings such superb color effects on a palette of forest greens to golds and reds. Autumn's glory is reflected in the beautiful teal wool combined with autumnal colors of varigated wool to reflect the change of seasons. Knitted/felted in a beautiful carpet bag shape with gorgeous knitted/felted handles that tie into lovely rosettes at each corner of this bag. The twisted I Cord on the sides is knitted and felted along with the bag and adds to the spectacular and fun design and the signs of Autumn. A lovely autumn scene of leaves and vines is knitted and felted separately and then the leaves are needle felted with roving for color variations after the felting process. The top edge closes with a gold magnetic clasp and the interior presents itself with a lovely pocket continuing the autumnal theme. "September Song" was a musical number from the 1938 Broadway theatre play called Knickerbocker Holiday.

Trendy or traditional ; pretty and petite are perfect adjectives for these gorgeous knitted , felted & needle felted bags. Until I have a bag in the works and complete it; I have never "FELT" this kind of passion for an art form which is not unique to this era but has been handed down though generations and has become more popular for bags, slippers, mittens, scarves and anything that can be knitted with the gorgeous wools on the market along with so many beautiful novelty yarns. I hope that you enjoy looking at my felted pieces as much as I enjoy the whole process from hand spun yarn to kettle dyeing to the final felting process it is a challenging and fulfilling artform. The process of needle felting adds decorative wool 'pictures' to my finished felted pieces & at times gives the piece a three dimentional look. It is a very rewarding process. I have used many mediums and this is one of my favorites because it is like 'PAINTING WITH YARN". My theme bags/totes are exciting to create but I have other artistic creations that I will enjoy sharing with you. Thank You for stopping by. Patricia Maxwell
