Misselthwaite Manor is a gorgeous knitted/felted, needle felted, embellished piece of fiber art. Two stunningly beautiful hand beaded handles compliment the colors in this piece. I knitted & felted this piece, adding lovely roving to create flowers in a 'secret' garden by needle felting in various shades which compliment this piece. Stunningly beautiful hand embroidery surrounds the base of this piece giving it the look of a flower garden. The embroidery encircles the entire base of this piece. A felted interior pocket is embellsihed and felted with a lovely yarn added to continue the garden theme. Gorgeous trim is hand stitched to the interior top edge & compliments the colors in the felted piece. The twice reinforced interior base is covered with a hand tie dyed fabric which gives the interior of this piece the continued look of a garden.Wispy grasses & stems of twisted roving make the front of this bag a floral fantasy. Misselthwaite Manor is a place in the movie/stage play called "The Secret Garden" (novel by Frances Burnett 1909). The three children find a way into the secret garden & work astonishing magic in themselves & those around them lifting the spell from the mysterious Misselthwaite Manor.

Trendy or traditional ; pretty and petite are perfect adjectives for these gorgeous knitted , felted & needle felted bags. Until I have a bag in the works and complete it; I have never "FELT" this kind of passion for an art form which is not unique to this era but has been handed down though generations and has become more popular for bags, slippers, mittens, scarves and anything that can be knitted with the gorgeous wools on the market along with so many beautiful novelty yarns. I hope that you enjoy looking at my felted pieces as much as I enjoy the whole process from hand spun yarn to kettle dyeing to the final felting process it is a challenging and fulfilling artform. The process of needle felting adds decorative wool 'pictures' to my finished felted pieces & at times gives the piece a three dimentional look. It is a very rewarding process. I have used many mediums and this is one of my favorites because it is like 'PAINTING WITH YARN". My theme bags/totes are exciting to create but I have other artistic creations that I will enjoy sharing with you. Thank You for stopping by. Patricia Maxwell
