This Itacare' fiber pottery piece is an explosion of color and texture offering an introduction to the colorful town of Itacare', Brazil. This lovely place is an explosion of colors, sounds, smells, flavors & textures which elate our senses. There are only a few places in the world where nature has been so generous offering such a diverse group of attractions concentrated in a single place. Itacare's welcome appears to be one of an atmosphere of permanent festivities and it is not a false impression. Visiting there I enjoyed diverse musical backgrounds between a 'forro' & a hip-hop dance. Everyone and everything in the evening delights the senses & exudes a colorful welcome & a wonderful time alternating between a capeta (drink with herbal energizers) and learning a new dance step. This is a lovely organic wool/soy yarn & the wooden beads & colorful suede embellish the center of this piece & the lovely top edge is finished with a picot edge

Trendy or traditional ; pretty and petite are perfect adjectives for these gorgeous knitted , felted & needle felted bags. Until I have a bag in the works and complete it; I have never "FELT" this kind of passion for an art form which is not unique to this era but has been handed down though generations and has become more popular for bags, slippers, mittens, scarves and anything that can be knitted with the gorgeous wools on the market along with so many beautiful novelty yarns. I hope that you enjoy looking at my felted pieces as much as I enjoy the whole process from hand spun yarn to kettle dyeing to the final felting process it is a challenging and fulfilling artform. The process of needle felting adds decorative wool 'pictures' to my finished felted pieces & at times gives the piece a three dimentional look. It is a very rewarding process. I have used many mediums and this is one of my favorites because it is like 'PAINTING WITH YARN". My theme bags/totes are exciting to create but I have other artistic creations that I will enjoy sharing with you. Thank You for stopping by. Patricia Maxwell
