As long as I can remember I have been fascinated by the Art of the Maya and the Aztecs. These two tapestries are NOT for sale. Prints may be available in the near future but,the originals will remain in my home =)

El Sol= The sun. I have been drawn to the arts of Pre-Colombian America since I was a youth. Whay you will find here is a group of tapstries that were inspired by the art and architecture of the Classic and Post Classic Maya of Southern Mexico and Guatemala. These tapestries are in no way stolen ideas or meant to disrespect the Maya people of Central America. WHat you will find it that I have used woven fabric(purchased fair trade) to crate borders and to give each peice more of an "authentic" feel. The dark blue/black Japse(ikat) fabric was taken from a Corte(traditonal Maya wrap skirt)that originated in Chichicastenango( circa early 80's) Guatemala, the brighter more vibrant fabric was a corte(circa mid 80's) that came from the town of San Antonio Aguas Calientes. Since this fabric was made by humans and not machines the fabric proved to be somewhat of a challenge to cut and sew. I hope that you all enjoy them. Much Thanks M.Garcia

This is a banner that was created for the band "INTI" based out of Denver,Co. This is the largest batik that has been done here at Mountain Air Batik. It was in the neighborhood of 4 by 5(feet that is),cotton duck to provide the durability that it will need while being taken from show to show. The band was very happy with outcome, so were we!
