(Knit Textile Art)

Staghorn Coral Ocean Reef (organic pottery) I knitted & felted this beautiful varigated wool and soy organic yarn and the concept of working with something so directly from nature inspired the artist in me to name this pottery after an ocean reef. The Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea forms a natural breakwater for the coast of Australia and contains coral gardens and unusual marine life. It is the largest reef in the world. Of the many hundreds of varieties of coral growing on the reef, the Staghorn (antler type) is one of the most common. The Great Barrier Reef is a true wonderland of color and beauty. This organic yarn knitted & felted into a beautiful oceanic reef pattern and I can hear the ocean and see the many beautiful sea creatures and plant life come out in this wool and soy as it felted and the Staghorn coral concept jumped out at me and longed to be part of these beautiful color combinations. Thank you for sharing in nature with me through these organic creations. (non skid fabric backing)

Trendy or traditional ; pretty and petite are perfect adjectives for these gorgeous knitted , felted & needle felted bags. Until I have a bag in the works and complete it; I have never "FELT" this kind of passion for an art form which is not unique to this era but has been handed down though generations and has become more popular for bags, slippers, mittens, scarves and anything that can be knitted with the gorgeous wools on the market along with so many beautiful novelty yarns. I hope that you enjoy looking at my felted pieces as much as I enjoy the whole process from hand spun yarn to kettle dyeing to the final felting process it is a challenging and fulfilling artform. The process of needle felting adds decorative wool 'pictures' to my finished felted pieces & at times gives the piece a three dimentional look. It is a very rewarding process. I have used many mediums and this is one of my favorites because it is like 'PAINTING WITH YARN". My theme bags/totes are exciting to create but I have other artistic creations that I will enjoy sharing with you. Thank You for stopping by. Patricia Maxwell
