Staghorn Coral Ocean Reef (organic pottery)

I knitted & felted this beautiful varigated wool and soy organic yarn and the concept of working with something so directly from nature inspired the artist in me to name this pottery after an ocean reef. The Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea forms a natural breakwater for the coast of Australia and contains coral gardens and unusual marine life. It is the largest reef in the world. Of the many hundreds of varieties of coral growing on the reef, the Staghorn (antler type) is one of the most common. The Great Barrier Reef is a true wonderland of color and beauty. This organic yarn knitted & felted into a beautiful oceanic reef pattern and I can hear the ocean and see the many beautiful sea creatures and plant life come out in this wool and soy as it felted and the Staghorn coral concept jumped out at me and longed to be part of these beautiful color combinations.
