(Knit Textile Art)

Loring Park & City Lights at Twilight My love for Minneapolis as the CITY OF LAKES inspired my LORING PARK, CITY LIGHTS AT TWILIGHT felted tote. AT the bottom of the tote I attempted to create the earth by knitting green wool along with a novetly ribbon to give it the look of earth/'dirt' and then proceeded to knit into the grasses and greenery around the park and the lake with its many flowers. The CITY LIGHTS at TWILIGHT look inviting in the evening twilight at the right side of the tote and the evening sky with its twinkling stars completes the theme. The interior is finished with felted pockets complimenting the theme and the base is twice reinforced with webbing and a lovely fabric covered needlepoint foamcore for durability and beauty. I CORD handles run through the top edge and twist to come over the top edge to catch two blue star fashion buttons centered with two silver star buttons. This piece is a "WORK OF HEART".

Trendy or traditional ; pretty and petite are perfect adjectives for these gorgeous knitted , felted & needle felted bags. Until I have a bag in the works and complete it; I have never "FELT" this kind of passion for an art form which is not unique to this era but has been handed down though generations and has become more popular for bags, slippers, mittens, scarves and anything that can be knitted with the gorgeous wools on the market along with so many beautiful novelty yarns. I hope that you enjoy looking at my felted pieces as much as I enjoy the whole process from hand spun yarn to kettle dyeing to the final felting process it is a challenging and fulfilling artform. The process of needle felting adds decorative wool 'pictures' to my finished felted pieces & at times gives the piece a three dimentional look. It is a very rewarding process. I have used many mediums and this is one of my favorites because it is like 'PAINTING WITH YARN". My theme bags/totes are exciting to create but I have other artistic creations that I will enjoy sharing with you. Thank You for stopping by. Patricia Maxwell
